Enhance the success rate of your in-licensing activities with the Rhenovia’s new service offer “The Virtual Compound Profiling Program” - Meet Rhenovia at BIO Chicago (3-6 May 2010), French Pavilion #3712

Drug companies that are searching to in- or out-license drug candidates are facing two major challenges:

1.     Making the right choice of in-licensing compounds to increase the success rate in clinical trials

2.     Selecting the most attractive compounds for future successful out-licensing, to enhancing commercial competitiveness and gaining consistent market share.

Rhenovia provides a solution to overcome these hurdles with its NEW Virtual Compound Profiling Program based on the use of its cutting edge modeling and biosimulation platform of the neuronal transmission.

With this engine, Rhenovia can test the action of drugs on major intracellular and molecular mechanisms/pathways involving GPCRs and second messengers cascades, ionic channels (receptors for neurotransmitter, voltage-gated channels), kinases and other enzymes, transporters, that participate to pre- and postsynaptic parts of the neuronal transmission. Importantly, these tests can be run under both normal/physiological and pathological conditions.

As an example, using our simulation program, we observed that the efficacy of compounds interacting with the NMDA receptor is highly depending on neuronal activities (publication in press).

  1. Making the RIGHT choice for in-licensing:

A Major difficulty is to obtain from the offering companies the most complete pharmacological profile that provides 'guaranties' for future clinical efficacy, brings about superiority toward competitors and eliminates as many side effect alerts as possible.

Rhenovia contributes at three levels:

-       perform larger 'in silico' characterization to broaden the understanding of the mechanisms of action of the in-licensed drug candidates within the complexity of integrated biological systems, and test the compounds on the dynamics, adaptability and compensations of the systems under normal and pathological conditions

-       identify the contribution of complementary effects due to multiple receptor interactions, the impact of non-selectivity by dissecting out the diverse receptor profiles and determine the impact of drug-drug interactions

-       identify possible safety alerts on neuronal functions that are simulated by the platform such as cognitive/memory deficit and risks associated with a disruption of the excitatory-inhibitory balance.

  1. Enhance the ATTRACTIVENESS of in-licensed compounds for future out-licensing perspectives

The challenge is to obtain good clinical data, but also attractiveness for future out-licensing or co-development opportunities.

To better exploit the multifactorial feature of the diseases, we believe that using the virtual Compound Profiling Program in searching for optimal synergistic drug combinations is a must

This strategy would allow the rescue of drugs that failed for insufficient efficacy or deleterious side effects that sanctions compounds with otherwise good potential clinical efficacy.

Rhenovia contributes to make the choice, as early as possible in the in-licensing process of synergistic combinations that may enhance the value of the in-licensed drug candidates.
